On my very first cab ride from Lisbon airport to downtown, I heard Amália sing of the city at night on the cab driver’s radio. It felt like a movie scene and it’s something I’ll never forget. I know Fado is an intense musical genre and not everyone’s cup of chá (🤓). It’s the perfect soundtrack, however, for my Armchair Travel to Portugal. Amália, the Queen of Fado, will lighten your mood and deepen your yearnings at the same time and in a delightful way. Are you familiar with Fado music? Is there a way for me to persuade you to give it a listen? 😉😍😘 If you need a starting point, my two favorite songs at the moment are: Maria Lisboa and Abandono.
