I love fado because of the passion that’s audible in the singer’s voice; because of the skillful (portuguese) guitar accompaniments that often become second vocals; because of the rubato, the free flowing, almost irregular use of tempo and pauses; because of the way fado is performed, up-close and personal; I love fado because it speaks to my heart. Still, I keep my ears open and listen through the history of fado; a the history also of colonialism and fascism, which makes me appreciate the novo fado, the new generation of fadistas, even more. I invite you to listen along with me, to open your ears to a fascinating musical genre and to start your own journey of discoveries. What do you hear? Sending love to you! 💖😘🍀
