Have you ever been to a World Fair (World Expo)? I’ve been to one (I think I was ten?), but I don’t really remember much – except for the long car ride with my parents, and feeling overwhelmed 🙈🙉🙊 In Francisco José Viegas’s “Um Crime na Exposição” (1998) three corpses are discovered on the Expo grounds in Lisbon during the World Expo of 1998. Of all the places! Of all the things! The key to the crime seems to lie in a lost video, which is supposed to contain proof of the existence of a mysterious poisonous fish (see what I did for the photo?! 🤣). And then a fourth corpse turns up. What does the American military have to do with this? A tough nut to crack for investigator duo Jaime Ramos and Filipe Castanheira. I’m excited to dive into this story – and a little tense whether my Portuguese is good enough to follow all the twists and turns of the plot. Fingers crossed! 😍🤓😘
